What sunnies are you wearing. Which Oakleys. Holbrook. Frogskin?
ОтветитьAnother great video 👍 your girls are lovely 😍 We too have 3 daughters and our youngest is also called Rosa 😀
ОтветитьBrilliant.
ОтветитьYou asked about irrigation, last year I brought this timer from amazon Omorc Automatic Water Timer
Which I have found to be excellent and the rest of the bits and pieces I purchased from ' easy garden irrigation ' who where super helpful.
Waiting to see the recommended watering systems here in the comments!!! Need both a smaller and larger system myself!! Nice job Tim, looks fab as always. Agreed on the Osmo on the horizontals, I need to sand mine back and go with a hard wood varnish this summer.
ОтветитьWe did automatic watering on our veggie patch last summer and never really understood at what time the water came on but the veg were fine. However our water bill was over the top so this year we will only be using it when absolutely necessary.
ОтветитьThat’s pretty cool!!!
Ответить“We always wear nice dresses when we’re gardening.” :-)
ОтветитьCompost tea. HAHAHA
ОтветитьI did this at the front of the house with flowers which got absolutely roasted and died. My lettuce and kale have flourished from being in a slightly shadier spot with more reliable watering..!
ОтветитьBrilliant idea and so simple. I'm going out to buy some guttering & plants!
Ответитьslug hand, that was hilarious
Ответитьyou got three girls for auto watering.!!!
Ответитьjust want it noted if you ran your hand down my leg pretending it was a slug I would have screamed louder and in a higher pitched voice than your daughter... Mind you I would have then punched you :D so swings and roundabouts :D
ОтветитьIs there enough depth in the guttering for lettuce etc? I was going to build some slightly deeper troughs but this is obviously easier/ faster.
ОтветитьWhat brand of guttering is it, looking to redo the guttering on the house this summer?
ОтветитьThis is a great idea. It's also so lovely to see all the family working together and making lovely memories. The girls will be very handy too when they are older. They won't need to rely on other people to do things for them. I have been the same growing up. I built brick retaining walls in my parents garden at 15 years old and now I can do most DIY projects myself from plumbing, tiling, plastering etc. I had my own handywoman business a few years ago and loved it. I love to watch all your vlogs.
ОтветитьReally like this, we're doing an extension in a few years time and the planners have insisted on a 100mm step back on a South facing wall, so I was planning to move my strawberries onto that wall in a similar way. I quite like the idea of using vertical drain pipe and some sort of hydroponic-like setup, though not sure what exactly. With strawberries I'd want to avoid the need to replace the compost as they use all the nutrients so the plants can stay in for a few years. So if you could sort out some sort of watering/feeding system, possibly Arduino controlled using moisture sensors for me to copy, that would be ace! More seriously, I think I would use micro-drip on a timer to start with, then if you need a challenge look at setting the timer duration to be controlled by something basic like the days' temperature.
ОтветитьThe middle daughter had a look at one point that said, " I'm totally going to climb this when he's not around."
ОтветитьHi, noticed you're using the Wickes compost. Last year Wickes compost was fine, but this year it's a fiber bark-like consistency that forms a rock-hard surface. Hopefully, flowers will be fine, but worth you keeping an eye out for as they may need feeding to compensate for the poor quality of the compost.
ОтветитьGalvanised guttering is gorgeous. Its a shame my house is 1980’s, id love it. But it just would t look right
Only looks right on character properties
Where did you get the galvanised guttering from Tim?
Ответитьgood job guys
ОтветитьI loved the look on the younger girls face, when you reminded them they dropped the soil in their hair the last time. I couldn't quite figure out if she was remembering in horror or thinking of doing it to her sister again.
ОтветитьNice vid as usual. I’ve use 1/2 garden hose as a spine with 6mm tubes as final distribution. Mine’s all for specific containers, but for yours, leaky hose might be better. Hoselock timers work well. Charles
Ответитьdrip irrigation is your water solution. it really does work. just be careful to pick drippers that don't add t much water at any one time. Hozelock is excellent. use the 4mm piping and small drippers twice a day at dawn and dusk.
ОтветитьGreat idea - why mount them so high? The oak shiplap would look great on the soffit.
ОтветитьGreat job and love to see the girls & Jo getting stuck in.
Ответитьfantastic
ОтветитьYou have a beautiful family, and the wall turned out great!
ОтветитьIn NZ we have a black soak hose which would be inconspicuous along the back of your gutters, It is made of a material that when you turn the tap on the hose 'sweats' along its length. Great for this sort of watering. Put a simple battery operated timer in the line and the system can self water whenever you need it to, maybe twice every 24 hours for 5 mins or so each time?
ОтветитьStrawberry plants!
Ответитьno, no, no, don't do that. said every dad in the world 8-)
ОтветитьI see you used the Christmas tree decorating method of moving plants when the girls aren’t looking. I still catch the wife doing that with me.
ОтветитьHows the pizza garden coming along this year
ОтветитьYou know it's only time before girls get the larger ladder and go for it
ОтветитьNice one Tim. Not an expert but just a thought, if you put a layer of bark on the soil it should help retain moisture and provide some additional nutrients?
ОтветитьCover with mulch to start. That’ll help limit any evaporation. Good job though.
ОтветитьFinally sunshine….and the family are back…wall looked good great video❤️🙋🏻♀️🇬🇧💕jane
ОтветитьSuperb
Ответить😯Did I just witness tim throwing the girls compost potion away ...No yes no yes no yes Nooooooooo , cut scene due to crying kids 😄
ОтветитьThat is the best use of a dead space that ever seen, really good to see the family getting involved.
P.S 😂 nnnnnnnnnnooooooooo I can’t believe she used the drill as a hammer,
Fantastic idea 👌
ОтветитьHey Tim, if Osmo isn't ideal for horizontal surfaces, do you have an alternative recommendation? I'll be looking to stain some sleepers in my future garden and want the golden warm wood look.
ОтветитьLove the idea and will do something like that! Thanks 😊
ОтветитьThis looks great and I may try something similar on the side of the house. I've just installed a drip irrigation system to our greenhouse and veg beds, got one of the cheap £20 ones from Amazon and was pleasantly suprised, went together easily and has been doing the job nicely. Just need to add a timer now, the simple Kingfisher one gets pretty good ratings.
Ответитьlove the way youtwo involve the kids,,,,,,,your great parents!
ОтветитьI never would have thought of this. Awesome idea 💡
ОтветитьYou forgot to drill drainage holes in the pipes also teach your children be self sufficient self sustainable by growing herbs and salads .
Use sea weed fertiliser and apple cider vinegar to spray on crop to stop green fly ect
