I can tell you from my experience.. AMEX is way more forgiving than Chase.

I have both for very different use cases.
AMEX Plat & Gold: All airfare, restaurant, and grocery spend
Chase Sapphire Reserve: Non-airfare travel (hotels, ferries, commuting, etc)
When I travel overseas, my default card to use is AMEX Gold (because we eat out a lot when we travel), BUT a lot of places (especially in Italy) do not accept AMEX. This is where it's helpful to have the Chase Sapphire card. I also use CSR for cabs, trains, ferries, and rideshare.
AMEX points I use for booking aspirational b-class flights.
Chase points I use for Hyatt stays and for "topping off" miles for United awards.
Hi Sebby, CSR insurance cover Cruise vacation purchased?

ОтветитьThe only thing that makes the platinum worth it for me is hertz status. I saved 1100 this year on two rentals
ОтветитьGreat video! Although I have my DDA/Savings accounts with Chase I only have the Sapphire Preferred as a credit card whereas I have a few Amex cards (Hilton Honors, Blue Cash Preferred, and Amex Everyday) that I use as my everyday cards. Chase (to me) seems pretty rigid as far as approvals go (even if they say "pre approved") but Amex tends to just toss me whatever card I apply for and it does not count as a hard inquiry. Just my thought. Thank you for this comparison approach. :)
Ответить🐶 is having both cards a good idea or just silly???

ОтветитьChase is much more simple. I dont have to play mental gymnastics to justify having a 2k annual fee.
ОтветитьI had AMEX Platinum and Chase Sapphire Private a few years ago. I got rid of them. They increased annual fees with a few additional perks that I don't use or need: credit for food delivery fees? And a few other store credit and streaming credit.
The best part was the Sapphire Private 3 years ago, where they give you $300 travel credit per year at $450 annual fee. I was easily able to recapture the annual fee with ease. Not anymore. They are all in the business to make money.
I currently have a bank of america 1.5% cashback card. It's been my first card. I'm considering chase sapphire preferred only bc Amex gold (I can get referred through my family or friends) has uber cash which I dont use and im not flying international a lot. The annual fee is worth it and I can use chase almost everywhere unlike Amex but Amex gives me a lot of travel benefits which I like
ОтветитьLove the channel man! All this CC is getting out of control and becoming like calculus lol. I can’t keep up! I’m just trying to fly business class overseas once per year. How do I do that!?
Ответить🐩 ; i'm personally accumulating more chase points atm >>>
Ответить🐶 loved your break down am stay with Amex give me my shoot .
ОтветитьMine is Chase Dominant with Savor One and Blue Cash Everyday supports
Flex & Unlimited -> UR Points
Sapphire Preferred -> UR Portal
Savor One -> Starter Card + Entertainment
Blue Cash Everyday -> Gas/Groceries
Hyatt Honors -> Free Night/Good UR conversions
I find the comparison easy. If you travel internationally then go Amex. If you travel within the country go Chase.
ОтветитьSilly topic, I think. It is similar to which pizza is better, pepperoni or sausage?
ОтветитьPuppy 🐕
ОтветитьKeep in mind, Chase travel portal and amex travel portals do no carry some airlines. For example they don't support Turkish Airlines at all. Bilt does for example.
ОтветитьHi Sebby, Thanks for all the great information on the AmExpssPlat. I am debating on whether to get the Platinum myself or piggy back off my brother's Platinum card. I really just want the airport lounges access globally. What's your recommendation?
ОтветитьI prefer AMEX over Chase. Both are great, but I just love how AMEX gives you so many pathways to get points. I love getting random emails from them offering 20k MR points for simply adding an AU, etc. They also give higher bonuses for more cards (just hit a 250k SUB on the biz Plat...hard to beat that). I also really like the frequency of various transfer bonuses. The synergy with Hilton and Delta is also really great, vs Chase with Hyatt and United/Southwest. My favorite AMEX card is the Platinum for the lounge access, and 5x on flights purchased directly from an airline is nice. I use most of the credits pretty seamlessly and reliably get $1,100/yr in value back. My favorite Chase card is the IHG Premier Rewards (my P2 just got this with the 5 night bonus). This will cover our lodging when we go overseas next month and is perfect for all the times we stay at Holiday Inns for kids sports tournaments.

ОтветитьI used to have platinum, but Chase offered me a amazing deal so down graded the platinum. I like Chase the app is better and quicker when you're using the travel part of the app. I think the only thing to keep in mind is Chase takes longer to take the money and apply it to your account. Amex right away updates the amount owed seconds later. CHASE ALSO offers coupons that you add to you're card if you want.
ОтветитьHe didn't mention Chase's Amazon Prime. 5% at Amazon and Wholefoods.
Bit of a no brainer
🐶 really enjoy your videos 🎉

ОтветитьI got a 100k offer for the Amex gold direct mail. Also saw it online
ОтветитьAlso your link for newsletters doesn’t work
ОтветитьAmex customer service is incredible. The perks of the platinum are better than chase sr was for me. The $15 a month Uber+ getting my moneys worth in centurion lounge food and drinks it pays itself back.

ОтветитьI'd watch a 2 - 3 hour video @sebby

ОтветитьI'm currently debating between Amex Gold, C1 Venture X, and Chase Sapphire Preffered. Your content has been very helpful, thank you.
Ответить😅😅
ОтветитьWhat about Citi? They have the Costco Visa card; my #1 card and I see more people using that card than any other.
ОтветитьNothing about the service. Last time I called Chase I couldn’t understand the rep. AmEx card members service has never been anything but exceptional….and I’ve been an AmEx card member (currently Platinum, Bonvoy, and Hilton) for over 30 years!
Ответить1. Amex by far! I have the gold, and BCE, but also have the CSP and CFF from Chase. My main focus was dinning out and traveling, but the metal cards was a huge plus.
2. I'm falling more in love with Amex than ever before. I even opened a HYS account just because I trust them more with my money.
3. For one Amex beats all other competitors for their Customer Service, communication, and general ease of use. Not to mention Chase has predatory habits that remind me never to bank with them, and I can't stand their Chase Portal. The only reason I've kept Chase is because of the $0 annual fee and options to downgrade when my lifestyle changes, other than that I kind of regret being influenced by their hype.

ОтветитьI have a question, so recently I saw someone post an offer for Amex plat with 175k points. I went to the offer and it said up to 175k points based on approval. I had just got approved for a BILT CARD about 5 days prior. My credit is above 780. So I filled out the application only to be told I was approved but only for 80k so I withdrew my application . Do you happen to know the reason for that? Is it due to applying for the other card, and would I actually have the chance to qualify for the 175 offer if I wait a few months?
ОтветитьSabby, how would you leverage 1.3m amex points to fly to africa in business?

ОтветитьA middle class 4 person family in a high cost area is going to spend $2-3k/mo on just groceries. Trust me.
And with gift cards, pretty anything can get the grocery multiplier.
That’s why the Amex gold card is generally the best for these types of households.
👍🏾🙏🏽💙
