I under helping people learn how to defend themselves legally but you definitely shouldn’t teach people to avoid dui checkpoints. This just doesn’t affect them but also whoever they may end up hitting

They’ll send a runner unit. Turning around just gave them articulate suspicion that you had reason to avoid police activity which now gives them the right to identify who you are. (Disclaimer: not all states).

Option 1: Go through the checkpoint and invoke your right to remain silent when they ask if you’ve been drinking.

Option 2: Do a U-Turn (if road lines allow it) and invoke your right to remain silent if pulled over until they have reasonable suspicion of a crime committed.

If a DUI check point is being conducted on a highway there needs to be a state police officer present overseeing the check point no matter county or municipality. No Trooper means invalid.

In my town they held it right before a parking lot, and it's a legal left into the lot but they posted up cops on bikes that would wait until you made the left to avoid the checkpoint and do a sobriety test anyways.
