The Baptist Church of Macon, Georgia was formed in the early 19th century by a few slave-owning families. The number of member families grew over the years; and so did the number of slaves forced to attend church with their owners. When the church leadership decided to expand the church to accommodate the growth, several prominent families sold their slaves to fund the expansion. They sold members of the church to fund the expansion of the church.

The church eventually split into two (the predominantly white and affluent First Baptist Church of Christ and the predominantly black First Baptist Church).

We are joined by the two pastors, Scott Dickison and James Goolsby, who have been leading their churches through a years-long process of confronting the complex history in order to do the work of repenting and redeeming it.
