I can't agree that it is exceeding expectations. They lost a lot of fans when they changed the story. They should have kept John Tinker and let him write season 10, 11, and 12. He would have been able to continue the story where he left off and it would have satisfied the Chris McNally fans. They should have not changed the story. They should have made a separate track for the other fans so that Lucas fans would still have a series that they enjoy. Now, the series is not good compared to what it used to be. Lucas is keeping the story going. People need to stop criticizing Lucas. He is not the problem. The problem is the story writing in season 10-11 is not good writing anymore. They made him look awful and the saloon business man in Janette's books is not a bad person. It is these people responsible for making him look bad when he isn't supposed to be. Many fans are criticizing how this series has become a soap drama and its so true. It is repetitive and makes certain characters immature. Faith is a better example than Elizabeth. I never accept the reasoning as it makes Elizabeth an unstable and immature person. She has become hated by a number of fans who used to like her. Faith is way better than her overall now. She is stable and mature even though she is not a Christian. It's sad how they took away the good qualities that people admired of Elizabeth and made her just like the people in this world. She no longer prays and no longer talks about faith in her conversations and none of the people around her except the Canfields still talk about their faith. Henry also has caught Elizabeth not being honest. It's very sad and has degraded the series down a path that it should never have gone. She doesn't even consult the pastor and his wife for help. She is too head strong and too much thinking she can do things herself. Sadly, Mei and Elizabeth act like teenagers. People keep leaving the series. It doesn't sound like they are meeting up to expectation to give them a sufficient satisfying story. Fiona was a great character on the show but her role got reduced to a small part. People liked it better when the other characters had real importance to add to the story. Now, they are just background characters. It makes the show less interesting to watch and people want to see beyond the mountie and teacher relationship. Jack is the best mountie character. Despite all the toxic comments against Lucas, his character is similar to Jack though they are not the same person. There is evidence of his character in Janette Oke's other books. There is no Nathan. He is totally made up. Gabriel from When Hope Calls is much better in character. There better not be any toxic comments posted against what I said. There are way better show runners and writers out there than the ones they chose to write seasons 10-12.
