I luv Wildflowers w/ peony & amber by Opalhouse
Ответитьfuriously looking g up the closest anthropologie to me
I've never thought about my scent identity before. Will definitely keep this in mind for future candle shopping :)
My favourite scent for a candle is espresso
I love apple scents, but apple candles never keep the scent when burning, at least all the ones I've tried before. But Joann Fabrics has a gorgeous Poison Apple candle rn
I love Fiction Bath Co for fragrance needs. Their combos are top tier--I have the Goblin King sleep spray and its so well balanced that its the first time I've liked the smell of lavender
Wonderful episode. Scent is so important for all the reasons you listed. I like what I call dark scents, spice, leather, musk for fall and winter. Cliché, I know, Coconut for summer.
Ответитьlove the jasmine candle holder, the color and texture 🧡🍑✨
my favourite is vanilla soy candles ☺
Thank you for this video. I love Tuscany candle Fall Festive. I'm hoping towards fall you can review more fall type candles 😊
ОтветитьI don't have a specific brand of candles, but I gravitate towards "green" notes. I like leafy green herbal smells. 🌿❤
ОтветитьThe Madagascar Vanilla & Cedar Jar Candle at Hobby Lobby smells great and comes in a beautiful amber jar. I love the Mainstays brand in apple pumpkin and cranberry mandarin candles from Walmart. Pink Sands and Apple Pumkin scents from Yankee Candle are also amazing!
ОтветитьThank you for sharing this video. I really love floral scents
ОтветитьHey, not generally a fan of anything with musk notes. Floral, or fruity are my usual go to candles. Years ago now, Avon had a candle of the month type thing for a while and I got a few. There was one I loved so much when I smelled it that I bought a 2nd one. They smell like Creamsicle, and it was like, whoa, there's my childhood. As fate would have it, they got packed away (unused) in a move, along with an apple scented one in a ceramic apple container (I usually find apple stuff tends to smell artificial, but the container was probably too cute to pass up). I just found them and started using one of the Creamsicle ones. Disappointing! Very faint scent. So, thanks for the tip about putting it in the bathroom. I'm in under 400 sq ft, so I'm wondering if it would help if I lit *both*, one in the living area of my studio, the other in the bathroom. And, what did I buy the other day at Bath & Body Works? Sparkling Papaya!
ОтветитьHello Steffi, I adore all of your content! I found this video to be so insightful! I had not considered mindfully shopping for a home-scent as personally identifying as one's own signature perfume. How brilliant an authentic connection with one's home is that!?! Brillant!
I realize via compliments I have received from guests over the years that I am clearly drawn to warm sugar- vanilla based scents. Even better when layered atop freshly brewed coffee notes. I have experienced the pleasurable satisfaction when guests, upon entering, have sighed deeply with a gratified smile and then outwardly share in their own interpretation of the candle's aromas of my home. Everything from breakfast/dessert in a French bakery to "How does your house always smell like Christmas?" (Refering to their own family's holiday baking traditions). Descriptions like "an inviting hospitality" to "it smells like...(deep sigh) welcome home" 😊
On a more personal level, Scentsy had a warming wax called French Kiss that I kept just for my bedroom. Inhaling it felt exotic, alluring, and somehow, a bit naughty. (Is that even possible? Lol) I caught the scent of fig, brown sugar, perhaps dark vanilla and musk. What they actually put in the blend, I don't know, but it feels perfect for in the bedroom.
I wanted to mention that what I think the best part of a well scented candle is. The meditative deep breathing that naturally occurs as the aromas are taken in. What could be more reassuring than a small flame ignites a ritual of slowed deep breathing, enchanting thoughts, all in a safe space called home?❤
I thought I hated lavender for years. Turned out I hate fake bad smelling lavender. Same with Rose. It generally smells like old soap over the floral smell. I need a video like this for body spray lol.
ОтветитьGirl, home goods or Ross is where you buy candles. Even sometimes Target. So much cheaper. 17 is the max I'd pay for a candle. 😂
That being said, I can't stand the artificial scents. Put musk in anything and I'm in. Also most of the Magnolia scents esp their Pampas or Salt
10 years ago I started making my own candles for three reasons, I'm asthmatic and would have bad reactions to most candles because of the ingredients used to make them (looking at you paraffin wax), I had a hard time finding scents I'm headache prone and a lot of the fragrances had such strong chemicals that it would trigger my headaches, and finally I had a hard time finding scents that I had to have in my home. I'd often find scents that I really liked and would use, then suffer with my side effects of headaches and breathing issues.
Once I started making my own candles with better wax and higher quality fragrance and essential oils, that's when things got better for me. I love a nice musk scent most of the year, during the warmer months I prefer a lighter cleaner scent with fresh notes of florals or coconut, and I like warm coffee notes interchangeably with the musk notes in the fall and winter to evoke comfort and coziness.
Sometimes when I'm out shopping, I'll visit the candle section of the store and smell what's out there and sometimes get inspired by different fragrance combinations for my own candles. Example, during the fall when all those sickeningly sweet pumpkin candles are in abundance, I have often wanted to have my house smell like these warm yummy autumnal fragrances. But again, the pumpkin fall candles are grossly sweet and make my stomach turn and gives me a headache. So I decided to make my version of a pumpkin candle and added musk to my scent profile to offset any sweetness and add a depth that most of those candles don't have.
I love mokara! I see Violet Leaf Oud is on sale online right now but I find anthro doesn’t honor online sales in stores which is disappointing. I need to smell it in person and don’t want to pay shipping for one item.
ОтветитьI live in Oklahoma city. There is a hotel in said city called the Skirvin. They have their own Candles! When walk in the hotel the scent combo is to the same! Musky, sweet, soft. It's beautiful!
Ответитьthis video of yours is truly insightful. thanks
ОтветитьLittle Cow Company, Where the Wildflowers meet the Pacific. Beautiful scent. Bought it at a cute lil store on the Oregon coast.
ОтветитьThank you for watching! What types of home fragrances do YOU gravitate toward? Any particular brands you like?
