It's just insane you can't simply put all in the elevator and the game simply calculate stacks of 50.

Agreed. Imagine how many Contested Zones you have to run to get a full set of comp boards. Then fly there and pvp your way to turn them in... only to receive the same ship you already own on the pledge store.

I don't think the devs imagined that one, like we just did

UEC should be physical. We have (long forgotten) bank kiosks around the 'verse to deposit and withdraw credits. And yes, Wikelo is not just RNG, it's gacha. Get rid of the HoYo nonsense CIG! This is NOT yet another game trend to chase.

They should just offer a choice of rewards when taking a mission; gear, cash, or materials relevant to the mission. As far as scrip, they should just get the ATMs working so they can be deposited and withdrawn. Personally I wish material had a dynamic value effecting contract rewards based on supply and demand vs RNG. I think that would incentivize pirating, smuggling and a blackmarket.

I have always taken development issues, bugs, and game jank in stride...but trying to turn 2000 scrip into favors was the most infuriating experience I've had in 10 years of playing. Tying it to a 50 at a time mission that sometimes doesn't show and when it does it bounces you from site to site (in my case what would have been 40 times) instead of a straight bulk deposit/payment is yet another mind boggling choice by CIG. After hours of trying to work through my stack I was rescued by a failed Wikelo hangar ship storage that put my scrip-filled ship into destroyed status and ended my pain (but cost me 28 favors worth of scrip). I was actually relieved at the loss.

No, I dont give a fuck about RNG when it comes to weapons and armor since it's mostly fluff. It's MMO 101, it's what keeps players playing for long periods of time. I dont care that I have to farm 150 valakkar tooth and potentially not get the exact parts I want. But some of these requirements are RIDICULOUS and they did not consider how much effort it takes.

Point: Ana Endro Armor. You need 20 Carinite, 30 Saldynium. That can be worth up to 10M in credits just for a CHANCE to get what you want.

But for ships?! That should be 100% rep gated OR they split the chance of ships you get categorically WAY better. Or even better, increase the cost of these turn ins by a large number, but guarantee it with rep gate.

But the biggest pain point is just how tedious it is to submit shit to wikelo. I'd rather be overwhelmed at the cost of turn ins than the idea of interacting with Wikelo.

I think they are unsure which philosophy of thought to go with in terms of wikelo's reward structure. RNG can work, and works well in many MMO's. The biggest thing with RNG systems are, the games that do them well allow you to pull the lever on the slot machine SOOOOO MUCH FASTER than in this game.

For an RNG system to feel good with regards to scrip, the ships cant cost like 2000 scrip for a single lever pull. Depending on the rarity of the ships in the pool, and as they add even more ships to the pool and dilute the actual good rewards, the number of pulls on the lever will inevitably go up.

For a non RNG system to work long term, the rewards need to be expensive enough commensurate with the time required to get it. High scrip costs make sense when you can choose the reward, not when you can't and need to pull the lever 10, 20, or more times.

The best feeling RNG game I've ever played is Path of Exile 1 and the reason it feels so good despite the absurd amount of RNG, is that you can pull the lever on the slot machine SO incredibly fast.

My process:
-stack 1500 scipt and move to 8 SCU box
-transport to Yela Wikelo station
-send down the elevator
-split to 50 sized stacks
-find low population server (seems that the mission appears faster, but it can still take 1-5 minutes)
-accept the mission, abandon if it's a different location
-rise and lower one 50-stack
-wait for the mission again (best to find somehing to pass the time)

Stacking is tedious, but it's no problem compared to getting the right mission. Handing in the script is more difficult than farming all the resources.
If I could get the correct mission quickly, I would find it acceptable (for now, for development-in-progress-game).

I wanted Guardian, got the Taurus which I like, but I won't do it again untill something improve.

Wikelo was a great idea until they decided to have three locations. One Wikelo, one location, one of every souvenir makes sense. When you put in three of everything you throw common sense out the window in favor of idiocy. I think the current iteration of Wikelo is moronic so i have not done business with him beyond feeding him for shirts, hats and fps weapons. I have no plans to work with Wikelo again while this multiple location nonsense persists. As for hangars and inventory...I am not a fan of the "trans-dimentional physics", aka magic, that makes up the bulk of the system. It is lazy and stupid at its core. Scrips? Who wants to carry around large, heavy, bars of metal? The entire point of currency is to replace the large, heavy, bars of metal. Too many, young, ignorant, inexperienced artists and not enough engineers at CIG.

Ответить
@Prich319

Scrips should be handled like Tomestones in FFXIV. Physicalized scrips get troublesome when you need hundreds if not thousands for a transaction, especially with an inventory system that refuses to transfer items on an all too frequent basis. Also, is it really too much to ask to have like items stack automatically? Getting a gun and 20 mags for feeding Wikelo is awesome, it's not so awesome having to pick up those 20 mags individually, transfer them from your belt to your backpack, then manually stack them to keep things organized.

RNG is like a Gatcha game the Japanese perfected. It could work. I’ve played gatcha games. It’s like going to a casino and risking your credits on the chance you could get something rare and special.

It’s also a way to create scarcity for an item making it extra special when you do get it.

An easy way to unstack scrip to turn in is to deposit them via the inventory terminal beside the ship terminal. Then go to the cargo elevator terminal and bring up the scrip you want to turn in. the cargo elevator takes a stack and breaks it out into individual items. then send the cargo elevator back down and it'll turn in just the scrip needed for the mission, which is ideally all you sent up the elevator in the first place.

Don't tell me anyDon't tell me about pain... :D

I had a 3100 stack of MG Scrips, loaded them onto the elevator, and when the elevator came up, there wasn't a proper stack, but rather 3100 individual MG Scrips that went way beyond the elevator's capacity. Not only did the game crash several times and mess up the entire server, but even after I was allowed to manually pick up the shit piece by piece (took us 8 hours for two players), the elevator wouldn't work anymore and just spit out error messages.

The inventory system started with a global inventory per location using the same ui. Its pretty much the same for the shopping ui too.

They didn't update it for the Kiosks and they didn't update it for the freight elevators. I really really really dislike the inventory ui in this game in any form. It's just bad. T0 like everything else i guess.

We need to be able to compare items. Especially when shopping.

Also wikelos turn in is really poorly designed and the rng isn't the right call. The randomness should be in the components and weapons on the ship if anything.

I was saying very similar for the regen crisis Rayari collection missions. They move around as well and are a pain. It'd make more sense if each outpost specialized in a certain ingredient, or have missions that have a larger quantity like the Supply or Die missions had.

I turned in at least 10 million credits worth of the Rayari missions, and it was a headache, especially when a bounty would spawn over the location and blow up my intrepid. I was using it because it was fast, I could be outpost to outpost in a couple minutes.

As a gamer with a substantial amount of history with gacha, lootboxes, and other randomized systems, I can see Wikelo being randomized being able to be made good, however the current iteration is kinda putting on display that they did not learn any of the lessons that decades of work done by those other game companies has produced. The most important things in making a randomization system work, that are clearly visible in every successful implementation of such systems, are: Repeat pulls either don't happen, or have actual benefits provided such as the ability to combine things, or return the duplicate for a refund of either full or majority of what was put in (personally, with something like Star Cit, no duplicates seems like best option for this front, however being able to return a duplicate and get like 7/8ths of the favours back would also be a decent option), Some form of Pity Mechanic to ensure that if people keep coming back they can have some level of confidence that they will actually get the thing they are after, even if it takes a dozen tries (depending on how the duplicates issue is handled, this one could be also being addressed by the first point, however when these 2 are not integrated, they are pretty much both must-haves), and Appropriate Costs, both in currencies, and time/energy, given the likelihood of needing to roll multiple times for a person to get what they are seeking (at current, a person could pretty reasonably get the creds to purchase a Peregrine in less time than it takes to collect the scrip, turn in the scrip, and then turn in the favours, which fully reverses this fundamental). To be clear, especially on this last note, it is not a matter of making it super easy to roll, just that the current system makes it take more out of someone to take an unreliable roll, whereas it should likely be almost fully reversed in time/energy consumption, where you can get a roll in about half the time it takes to build the creds, this makes each roll feel less punishing, while also not leaving people who take a more direct (creds-based) approach, feeling shafted. Beyond all these, another core thing that is very common, and can be extremely helpful, is transparency, so that a person can find out that the specific armour pieces are based on which station you turn in at, odds of each outcome, and other such relevant info (this would also include the specifics of any pity mechanic and duplicate-related mechanic that might be implemented, and is currently failed doubly by the fact that there isn't any indication that duplicates of these distinct, and uniquely named ships, are even a possibility).

Obviously, everything I am talking about here is moot without the fundamentals of stabilizing the method of turn-in, so that people aren't losing multiple favours-worth of turn-ins to the freight-monster and such, which I know was more of the focus in this vid, just thought I'd offer a bit of info on the systems that have been developed in the rest of the industry to keep people coming back to, and sometimes even enjoying, randomization systems.
