Vertical Video or Portrait Mode Videos are the most annoying to watch especially when you're watching the video from your BIG TV LED LCD OLED screen. It wastes 2/3 of the screen with the DAMN black pillars on either side of the screen. WHY!!!!!!!

What happened to the original? it is set to private somehow?

It would be so trivially easy to fix by Apple and Google and other camera phone makers. The camera app should slightly dim the top and bottom of the display if you record vertical video as a subtle reminder to the user that it might get cropped, encouraging them to hold it the right way.

Countless times I have shamelessly told people on the street unbeknownst to me to hold their phone the right way when shooting videos.

Cannot believe this is from 2014..... As others stated, this is more relevant now than it was back then. I am a video editor and general artist for motion pictures. In my eyes, vertical video is a bad disease.
And yet, I am forced to adopt........ But once my channel is going, I'll jump onto this topic and give it a 2024 coating.
