I mean their first model was a space marine. 40,000 is a thing because of the space marines, in particular letu. When they finally made a 5 pack of space marines it outsold the entirety of the warhammer fantasy line very quickly. I promise your first exposure to 40k was of a space marine, and you said you love 40k. Is there alot more to 40k than space marines? Hell yea there is and they do give attention to the other factions. But instead of just going along with what you heard someone else say how about really thinking about your opinion on the space marines and you will realize that its a pretty silly and unfounded opinion to have. Its cool to not like them that much, but you have to acknowledge that without them there is no 40k and that is more than enough reason to appreciate them. Very silly my guy. Just think about things more often. Maybe ask yourself why you have the opinions you have and maybe play devils advocate with yourself... You will fid some use in doing it. There are just way too many people nowadays that do not form their own opinions and just repeat what someone else said without really thinking. Kinda like i think you may have here. Really ask yourself is games workshop forcing you to only buy space marines stuff? No, no they arent. I understand when we are passionate about something we tend to become a little pretentious, and thats fine. Bit always ask yourself if your being pretentious in a way that can make sense or in a way that is being pretentious just for the sake of being pretentious and just wanting to seem unique. Disliking something regardless of how good or bad it is but on how popular it is, and if its popular then its bad. Its just very silly. Very very silly. The models are more kid friendly and have always been and the written lore is more adult. Its on purpose

Would add that with all the extra testosterone that would be flowing to allow muscle mass they would need something to address the additional estrogen made or something that inhibits myostatin w/o increasing heart tissue. Either could be done with Aromatase inhibitors or just removing breast tissue. If only GH surges the aspirant would have acromegaly symptoms but not nearly the amount of muscle tissue or strength that they have in lore.

Fun fact: Blood Raven novels made a adult guardsmen into a space marine and when he was half way during surgery, they asked if he’d rather die because he was in so much pain but the guardsmen said no and kept going! What a Chad lol 😂

This is an incredible reimagining, especially with the size and musculature. I was surprised by your version of the Lyman’s Ear, making it a grafted machine instead of a grown human ear. In the lore of the space marines, the organs working in conjunction would also improve the aging of the space marine to be able to live significantly longer. This might be the reason that most are also seen as handsome and rugged, their gene seed working to stop the premature aging from the beginning and getting better as more implants are… well, implanted 😂

I don't find them heroic idk what that means but as a new player i don't see them as protagonists or the good guys, rather dangerous religious soldiers. All that herioc representation seems deliberately manipulative like in universe to me

I like to imagine that, in the beginning of the Great Crusade, the Space Marines looked quite a lot like how they did in Rogue Trader and in the artwork here; they're essentially a working prototype, with other faults within their bodies and minds too. These were ironed out over time, but with the Horus Heresy, this knowledge was lost the traitors.

Only one gripe, our stomach acid is highly corrosive, we have a layer of enzymes that neutralize the acid to keep it from burning a hole through our gut. Maybe the Space Marines have something similar to that in their mouths to stop the acid from eating away at their lower lips. Also, the lore says it is only used in extreme cases, escaping bonds when captured, weapon of last resort, etc. Other than that, really well done. Cool way of looking at it.

They certainly took it way too far with the amount of organs. The daft one for me was the glands on the stomach that allow them to read the memories of brains they eat. FFS thats just plain stupid. The glads for spitting acid was silly too.

But remember, in the age when the empra united terra and build up the legions they tooked a lot adult warriors. And in the end of the devastation of baal a young man, "damaged" and handicaped due the selecting process, is examined by an apothecarie and choose.
So much more seems possible.

A WH40k game could be good as a MMO simulation even deeper than Star Citizen, where one can open each panel of a gothic ship and fumble with its wiring, or customize each of a tank's bolt for a different outcome in battle.

The acid gland is the only one I have a problem with. Our skin can be remarkably resistant to acid. That's why our mouths don't burn when we vomit or have very bad acid reflux.

ok, but since technically, all the media we have of the 40k universe are basically propaganda from the imperium, isn't it normal that the space marine are shown as perfect?

The blood clotting sooner wouldn’t prevent or replace the regular healing process of wounds. They would still close and scar rather than heal open as the wound was caused like you suggest.

I am fairly certain that the Mucranoid creates the very thick sweat to help in case of a breach in the armour in a vacuum, creating a better seal of the body to protect against exposure.

On the note of acid burns in the mouth - the saliva could possibly counter that. But without it being directly stated in the lore of doing such, I doubt it. And maybe the marine has muscles in the spitting reflex so it does not actually hit the mouth of the marine.

We have also seen the Black Carapace! The Blood Quest comics showed it as a sleeveless t-shirt looking thing.

And I have to say, the end image SCREAMS of the style of Rogue Trader! These are not the best and finest of humanity, these guys are warped creatures sent off to war.

The part I'm most unconvinced of is that the musculature in your artwork looks somewhat wimpy for what they're supposed to be capable of physically according to the lore.
Premature aging is questionable, as the Marines are supposed to live for hell of a lot longer than regular humans.
And the acid drool... the acid spit is supposed to be an on-demand thing rather than constant, and I wouldn't be surprised if the organ isn't simply producing an acid but rather separate chemical precursors that need to be combined together to create it. The marine would spit them out as they mix rather than hold concentrated acid in his mouth.

I have only two objections, the acid-spitting organ is defective in many marines to the point of not producing any, two one can age without catching male pattern baldness(although yes plenty of marines are bald)

Otherwise great work!

Changes I would suggest:
Space Marines are supposed to be wider than regular people in a way that throws off their proportions.
Teeth are very useful and will have undergone the same process that strengthens bones, so they shouldn't fall out. Although they should be somewhat misshapen.
